Current SIL Vacancies — Craigieburn, Roxburgh Park and Mickleham

Looking for a Supported Independent Living place in Craigieburn? This page is updated weekly with the rooms we currently have available. We are honest about what is free, what is full, and what is in planning.

Every vacancy listed here has been walked through by our coordinator. We do not list rooms that are technically available but a bad fit — for example, rooms in houses where the existing resident mix would make a new resident’s life harder. If a room is on this page, it is genuinely ready to receive a new person.

Understanding Vacancy Types

Different vacancy types suit different participants. Here is a quick guide.

1. Private room

Your own bedroom in a shared house. Most common arrangement. Shared kitchen, bathroom(s) and living space with 1-3 housemates.

2. Private room with ensuite

Your own bedroom plus private bathroom. Premium option — less common but available in some houses.

3. Shared room

Two participants share a bedroom. Only offered with explicit consent — typically for siblings, couples, or very close friends.

4. Whole house

A full house for 1 participant or a chosen group of participants. Used for participants whose needs make shared living impractical, or groups moving together from existing living arrangements.

5. Respite room

Short-term accommodation (1-14 days) rather than permanent placement. See our respite care page.

Why We List Actual Vacancies (Not Generic "Places Available")

Plenty of providers run SIL pages that say “vacancies available, call for details” without ever listing a specific room. This is deliberate — it keeps them from committing and lets them pool enquiries. From the participant’s side, it is a time-waster.

We do it differently. Each vacancy has a real address, real housemates, real features. You know what you are enquiring about before the first call. If a room is not listed, that means we do not currently have it — not that we are “probably sort of available”.

How to Enquire About a Vacancy

Houses in Planning

In addition to current vacancies, we always have 1-2 new houses in planning. These are SIL houses being set up for participants moving together as a group, or new houses coming online within the next 3-6 months.

If you have a specific group of housemates in mind, or specific requirements that existing vacancies do not match, get in touch. We can sometimes build a house around a group rather than placing individuals into existing homes.

Register Interest When Nothing Fits

If the current vacancies do not match your needs, register your interest. We maintain a list of participants looking for placement and contact you as soon as a matching vacancy opens.

When registering, tell us:

  • Preferred suburbs
  • Room type preference (private, ensuite, shared, whole house)
  • Support level (Lower / Standard / Higher SIL)
  • Access requirements (wheelchair, hoist, specific equipment)
  • Gender preferences for housemates
  • Any key dealbreakers (e.g. no pets, no smoking, near public transport)
  • Timeline — urgent, 3 months, 6 months, open
